Description Kevin McGuire CLA 2002-01-31 18:30:06 EST
1. Load a project "version" (in this specific example, a1_0)
2. Create a new file test.txt.
3. Sync the project, commit the one change (test.txt)

You get the following error in the console:

cvs server: cannot add file on non-branch tag a1_0
Comment 1 Kevin McGuire CLA 2002-01-31 18:55:15 EST
Reworded title to correct identify that the failure is on add.
Comment 2 James Moody CLA 2002-01-31 21:25:41 EST
We should perhaps disable most of the team ops (sync/add/commit/etc) on
projects loaded from a version, since you can't change them.
Comment 3 Kevin McGuire CLA 2002-02-01 15:25:57 EST
As per our discussion today, we need to sort through workflows and support
better.

Disabling menus in this case would be cruel since user would not be able to
determine why the operations are now unavailable.
Comment 4 James Moody CLA 2002-02-05 11:49:34 EST
Concur. As long as the error clearly indicates why they can't release (it's
not a branch), and we provide the ability for them to branch (we do), I think
this is reasonable.
Comment 5 Kevin McGuire CLA 2002-04-29 16:18:20 EDT
We have no suggestions for improvement so punting to 2.0.

Reopening
Comment 7 Kevin McGuire CLA 2003-02-07 16:38:41 EST
Reducing bug count.
User gets a correct error message (though a bit obscure). Nobody else has
reported problems so closing bug report for lack of better idea.
