I would like to contribute a view to a perspective and then mark it as minimized.  

I'm thinking something like:

IPageLayout layout = ...
layout.addView(IPageLayout.ID_TASK_LIST, IPageLayout.BOTTOM, 0.66f, editorArea);
layout.setMinimized(IPageLayout.ID_TASK_LIST);

Or another method would be through the IViewLayout interface.

This is now allowed in using the org.eclipse.ui.perspectiveExtensions point
