Description Dani Megert CLA 2005-03-11 06:52:28 EST
I20050311-1510

The title is "Tagging from workspace" but should be "Tagging from Workspace"
see bug 85317, comment 1 for a test scenario.
Comment 1 Michael Valenta CLA 2005-03-11 10:20:26 EST
The problem is that the title of the dialog is the name of the job that has
failed. There is no stipulation that the name of a job should be title case.
I've talked to Tod and he suggested that it is probably not a good idea to use
the job name as the dialog title. Moving to UI since they provide the jobs
error dialog.

We have changed this in the work in 3.3.

Whatever you changed, you did not fix it. I assume you did not take the time to actually try the scenario mentioned in comment 0 to verify whether it is indeed fixed.

Dani,

I don't know how to fix this issue. The UI cannot simply convert the Job name into title case and display it. What does capitializing means in languages other than English (my native language doesn't have uppercase/lowercase letters)? Even if a language supports, changing from lower case to uppercase preserves the meaning in all the cases?

Alternatively, we can change the dialog and move the the Job name from the title to elsewhere. But I think the effort is not worth to pursue. I'm going to mark it as won't fix. If you feel its not right, please reopen with your comments.

Prakash, I agree with your analysis that the general case cannot be solved. I would suggest to only change that string to "Tagging from Workspace". The same is e.g. done for Java search which makes it look good in the dialog but also in the Progress view (see attached picture).

Dani's suggestion makes sense to me.
Comment 10 Szymon Brandys CLA 2009-09-14 05:50:30 EDT
Two job/task names changed:
- "Tagging from workspace" changed to "Tagging from Workspace"
- "Tagging from repository" changed to "Tagging from Repository"

And released to HEAD.
