Bug 87540

Summary: TabFolder tabs look strange when SWT.BOTTOM
Product: [Eclipse Project] Platform Reporter: Silenio Quarti <Silenio_Quarti>
Component: SWTAssignee: Platform-SWT-Inbox <platform-swt-inbox>
Status: CLOSED WONTFIX QA Contact: Grant Gayed <grant_gayed>
Severity: normal

Hardware: PC
OS: Windows XP
Whiteboard: stalebug

Description Silenio Quarti CLA 2005-03-09 13:58:04 EST
Running ControlExample with the manifest. TabFolder tab. Select SWT.BOTTOM. The
tabs draw on the bottom, but I was expecting the orange strip would be under
the text and not above it. You should just check if this is the correct drawing.
Comment 1 Veronika Irvine CLA 2005-03-11 10:10:06 EST
I think this is just the way Windows XP is but Grant, can you please have
another look at this. Maybe Christophe has some ideas about it too since he
has looked at the Windows XP theme stuff quite a bit.
Comment 2 Florian Priester CLA 2005-09-22 10:01:16 EDT
MSDN says:

  "TCS_BOTTOM

Version 4.70. Tabs appear at the bottom of the control. [...]
This style is not supported if you use ComCtl32.dll version 6."
Comment 3 Michael Seele CLA 2006-06-12 08:08:25 EDT
can you fix this in 3.2?
Comment 4 Grant Gayed CLA 2006-06-13 08:59:39 EDT
I don't think this is likely for 3.2.x since it's not a crash or major functional defect.
Comment 5 Grant Gayed CLA 2009-09-25 16:40:57 EDT
Moving report to triage, see http://www.eclipse.org/swt/triage.php
for more info about swt bug handling.
Comment 6 Michael Seele CLA 2009-09-28 01:39:48 EDT
Are there any chance you work on this the next time?
Comment 7 Grant Gayed CLA 2009-09-28 10:01:56 EDT
I've taken another look, but I still don't see a "supported" way to do this. I think the only thing that could be done would be to not honour the SWT.BOTTOM style on win32, so that these tabs would draw at the top but would be visually correct.
Comment 8 Leo Ufimtsev CLA 2017-08-03 12:29:41 EDT
This is a one-off bulk update. (The last one in the triage migration).

Moving bugs from swt-triaged@eclipse to platform-swt-inbox@eclipse.org and adding "triaged" keyword as per new triage process:
https://wiki.eclipse.org/SWT/Devel/Triage

See Bug 518478 for details.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
