Description Jirong Hu CLA 2005-01-14 14:27:59 EST
After installed the Eclipse by default, the font size was set to size 12 and
it's very small. Then I found the the acutal text size for 11 is even bigger
than size 12. It could be a bug.

I am on Solaris 9.

Do you see this only in text editors or also in other widgets? Does the Font
dialog (Preferences > Colors and Fonts) show the correct preview? Do you use
Motif or GTK?

Works for me under WinXP.

Tom, does it work for you under Linux-GTK?
Comment 2 Tom Hofmann CLA 2005-01-17 08:26:48 EST
Since you filed against, 3.0.1, I assume you are using motif (Solaris-GTK has
only been supported for a couple of weeks).

I have seen similar stuff on not-so-recent Redhat Linux boxes (7.2 or so). I
believe it has to do with how we find a matching font under motif.

- Have you tried changing the font face (not just the size) - do you also see
the problem when using a different font face?

- What version of Solaris are you using?

- Do you have a customized .Xresources (or whatever the equivalent on solaris
is) file on your machine?

Daniel:
I have this problem only in text editors. The preview is also wrong and
only size=12 is wrong. The others are fine. I also have a WinXP box
without this problem. I installed the motif version on Solaris 9.

Tom:
1. I don't have problem with other font, only size=12. But 12 is the
default font.
2. Solaris 9.
3. I don't know about this. This is the first time I really have to use
a Solaris machine for development.
Comment 4 Tom Hofmann CLA 2005-01-17 09:43:28 EST
I recommend you try a different font face & size then. We don't do anything
special for a certain font size.
Comment 5 Tom Hofmann CLA 2005-01-17 09:44:14 EST
Moving to SWT for comments.

"I recommend you try a different font face & size then. We don't do anything

Tom:

I don't know what do you really mean by this. I just merely report this as a
minor bug. It's your decision to fix it or not.
Comment 7 Tom Hofmann CLA 2005-01-17 10:06:20 EST
Comment 4 was just meant as a workaround for the time being. I didn't mean to
say that this wasn't a bug, but just that I don't believe that the text
component can do anything about it.

Solaris is no longer a supported platform.
