Description Ben Konrath CLA 2004-11-30 23:05:39 EST
The download for the FTP/WebDAV plugins (eclipse-FTP-WebDAV-3.1M3.zip) contains
source but no way to build this source. Having an upstream source zip is *very*
important in the Linux / OSS world. Building from source allows IVSs and users
to control which tools are used to build the jars and gives ISVs and users
confidence that the exact code used in the binaries is available for audit.

We got around this in 3.0.1 by modifying customTargets.xml in
org.eclipse.releng.eclipsebuilder/team.extras and pre-fetching the sources into
custom tarball. At build time fetching from cvs is disabled so that it can be
built in a chrooted environment. The plugins were built with the methods
described in this document:

http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/org.eclipse.releng.eclipsebuilder/readme.html?rev=HEAD#ex6

The problem with build this method is that Red Hat becomes an upstream provider
for this source package which is not actually the case.

This component is no longer being actively developed. We encourage users to investigate the capabilities of the Eclipse Web Tools Project.
