Description Eugene Kuleshov CLA 2004-10-10 11:13:50 EDT
I believe most of the Eclipse users would agree that current key shortcuts to
switch between editors and views is not very intuitive and inconvenient.

I've tried to assign additional shortcut for "Nex Editor" (Ctrl-F6) to Ctrl-Tab
and found that it is more pleasant to use. Unfortunately it only allows to jump
etween editors, but not views. So, as a workaround I've added Ctrl-Shift-Tab
shortcut to "Next View" action (Ctrl-F7). Second one is not very intuitive and
it is also somehow annoind that it is necesary to use different shortcuts for that.

I'd suggest to add opened view to the editor list used for "Next Editor" action
and maintain last usage order. Then user can use single shortcut for more
efficient switching between views and editors and reassign it to Ctrl-Tab. In
this case it would be possible to use Ctrl-Shift-Tab for more intuitive
switching to previous editor/view.

Please note that this enhancement reques is not about changing key bindings!

Key bindings could be configured by user, but more importantly this request is
suggesting to add recent Views and Editors (and maybe even Perspectives) into
the same switch loop.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
