Description Curtis d'Entremont CLA 2004-08-09 17:28:22 EDT
If I import a log file and open the log view, most of the information is
presented as a list of CBE fields and values. However, most users don't know
anything about CBE; they don't even know what CBE means. They just want to
analyze their logs. We shouldn't be exposing the CBE-based implementation to
the user.

Most users will probably be smart enough to guess what most of the attribute
names mean, like msg and creationTime, but will be puzzled by the format - they
would expect something like "Message Catalog Type", and not "msgCatalogType".

The real problem here, though, is that when you're importing a japanese log
file in a japanese workbench, you see a whole bunch of english that you don't
understand. We cannot assume that the user understands english (otherwise why
translate?).

Setting to next release.
Comment 3 Valentina Popescu CLA 2006-02-10 12:18:29 EST
Setting target to future so it doesn't show up in the 4.2 feature query.
Comment 4 Christine Knight CLA 2006-05-10 16:43:48 EDT
Please set priority to P1

Support display of WEF and CBE in LTA consoles, by re-labeling fields, etc., using a mapping file (possibly as simple as re-labeling table headings). Make it a configurable/customization item. This includes updating filters/highlighters/GLA filters property names accordingly
Support display of well-known extensions in WEF/CBE in LTA display, such as security events, business events.
Comment 6 Eric Labadie CLA 2006-06-02 16:08:04 EDT
This requirement has been updated to rename the CommonBaseEvent properties to be Generic properties name in the following components:
-Log View
-Filters (Log view/GLA)
-Highlighters (Log View)
-Sort (Log View)
-Symptom Editor (XPATH Rule Builder)
-Documentation
-GLA Rule Editor
