Description Boris Hamanov CLA 2004-08-03 10:43:33 EDT
I disconnect some folder, then add it to .cvsignore and I don't want to hear
from it anymore. But after synchronizing, the folder is connected again. This
was not so in v2.1

Besides that, there is a discrepancy between CVS label decorations and the
synchronize view.
I will describe the whole situation:
The directory log is present in the CVS repository and locally. I cannot
delete it from the repository, because it must be present when new user checks
out the project (ant uses it). So, ant script fills it with log files. They
change frequently and I don't want to add them to CVS.
1. If I add to .cvsignore only the log files inside, no change is present in
the synchronize view, but the log directory is still decorated as outgoing
change. The log files are not as expected.
2. If I disconnect the log directory and add it to cvsignore, all is OK. Until
the next synchronization, after which the log directory is connected again,
decorated as outgoing change again, but the files inside are not, they are
still decorated as ignored (probably, because of the entry in .cvsignore file,
which is still there). But in the synchronize view is not like that. The 2
files inside are shown again as outgoing despite the ignore entry. I can remove
them from there if I add them to .cvsignore inside log folder as in 1.
But I can never get rid of the outgoing decoration. It marks my entire project
always with outgoing changes and makes decoration pointless.

Yes, it is true that scenario 2 is a bug. Once a file/folder is in the
repository, the .cvsignore file isn't useful. You should be able to disconnect
and then ignore, or alternatively, in the sync view remove the folder from the
view and then pin the synchronization. It won't be shown again.

Thank you! But my problem is not with synchronize view. It's with decoration.
If you fix it or tell me how to work around it, I will be most grateful.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
