Description Juergen Weber CLA 2004-07-16 05:36:32 EDT
If you sit behind a firewall the only way to access Eclipse's cvs
repository is via viewcvs (e.g.
http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/org.eclipse.ui.tutorials.rcp.part3/src/org/eclipse/ui/tutorials/rcp/part3/)

But you have to download each file individually via the browser, which is
a real pain imho.

Viewcvs has an option to download "Automatic generation of tarballs for
the HEAD or a specified tag." (http://viewcvs.sourceforge.net/#Cvsweb )

But this is not enabled on the eclipse page, I don't know if this is
caused by the cvsweb version used being not a recent version.

Sorry, I don't know where else to report this bug.

I've asked the eclipse.org web team to implement proxy support for accessing the
cvs repository. This will happen at some point, I just can't tell you when.

I'm going to keep this bug around to remind me to bug the webmaster again.

Moving to Community CVS.

This has been fixed with bug 87918. Although not a true proxy, it allows users
with firewalls that pass port 80 and port 443 to access CVS. Those users who
sit behind SOCKS and proxys are SOL.
