Description David W Hare CLA 2004-07-06 17:54:37 EDT
From the main Workbench view, click the Task menu (drop down arrow) and select
Sorting. There are duplicated mnemonics for (D) and (A).

See the attached screenshot.

Same is true of Filters drop down menu (D is used twice). This from bug 69424.

Comment 4 Michael Van Meekeren CLA 2004-07-19 15:32:19 EDT
Stefan, could you investigate. I would like to get the 3.0.1 bugs signed off
as soon as we can.
Comment 5 David W Hare CLA 2004-07-28 11:14:51 EDT
Changing to critical per Eclipse Build Call discussion
Comment 6 Kevin Haaland CLA 2004-07-29 08:54:03 EDT
Multiple mnemonics are not critical. Suggest deferring this defect report.
Comment 7 Steven Wasleski CLA 2004-07-30 09:53:34 EDT
Agreed, this can be moved to 3.1.
Comment 8 David W Hare CLA 2004-07-30 09:55:39 EDT
lowering to major per Steve's request
Comment 9 Michael Van Meekeren CLA 2004-08-05 10:40:32 EDT
3.1, the strings (with mnemnonics) are used in mulitple places as well.
Comment 10 Stefan Xenos CLA 2004-10-05 18:32:42 EDT
This is the most severely misclassified bug I've ever seen. For a description of
bug severities, please see:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/bug_status.html#severity

This would be "critical" if the filters dialog caused Eclipse to terminate
unexpectedly or deleted one of the user's files. (For an example of a critical
bug, see bug 16955)

This would be "major" if the entire filters dialog didn't do anything or failed
to open. (See bug 67590 for an example of a real major bug)

This would be "normal" if the buttons with duplicate mneumonics didn't do
anything (they are themselves rarely-used features with easy workarounds).

A simple workaround for this bug is to "press the tab key". That makes it minor
or trivial.

Filing bugs with incorrect severities makes it hard to find truly important bugs
(imagine a world where bugs like bug 67590 were left unfixed because everyone
was busy fixing misaligned text, incorrect fonts, and duplicate mneumonics).
Comment 11 Stefan Xenos CLA 2004-10-05 19:48:10 EDT
Fixed in head
Comment 12 Stefan Xenos CLA 2004-10-05 22:19:48 EDT
I feel bad about writing the flame in comment 10... this was just the most
recent of several misclassified bugs in my inbox and I overreacted. Thanks for
reporting the problem.

:-(

closing
Comment 15 Michael Van Meekeren CLA 2005-09-07 17:08:15 EDT
this Fix introduced problems with translation in bug 105809, we need to go back
and fix it by changing the duplicates directly in the strings.
