Description Steve Jefferson CLA 2004-05-23 10:33:47 EDT
In Java editor, the code assist menu appears then disappears again the moment
the mouse pointer is moved over it, without allowing a selection to be made.
This occurs both when Code Assist is automatically invoked (after 'this.' for
instance) and explicitly invoked (CTRL-SPACE). Same problem also occurs with
some menus - e.g. in "Edit Template" dialog for the Code Templates preference
option, the "Insert Variable" button behaves the same. Code Assist auto
activation delay does however work - unless mouse is moved over it, the menu
will appear and stay present until timeout.

Currently running 3M9, had same problem with 3M8 (forgot to report it :-( )
but not on earlier releases. Linux install is Mandrake 10.0, running under
KDE.

Tom, please investigate.
Comment 2 Tom Hofmann CLA 2004-05-24 12:01:31 EDT
cannot reproduce with the given steps on Redhat 9 & KDE.

What is your KDE mouse-focus policy (in the KontrolCenter, go to Desktop->Window
Behaviour, Focus Tab, Policy)? If you set it "Focus follows Mouse" you will end
up with quite a mess as soon as you start moving the mouse.

Closing as works for me, please reopen with more information on your platform
settings.
Comment 3 Steve Jefferson CLA 2004-05-24 12:31:06 EDT
Problem appears to be caused by a KDE focus policy of "Focus Strictly Under
Mouse". Fine for other policies.
