"Boxes" on a portion of the text example none

Description Brian So CLA 2004-04-07 17:04:02 EDT
With Eclipse 3.0M8 on Solaris 9 or HP-UX11.11 platform, a portion of the text
has "boxes" on them with size 100X100 and the use of the horizontal scroll bar.
The following is the procedure to reproduce the problem:

1. Download the 3.0M8 SWT Examples zip file from the eclipse.org site and load
it on to Eclipse workbench.
2. Select window->show views->Others...->SWT Examples->SWT Controls
3. Select the Text tab
4. Ensure that SWT.WRAP is not selected and select SWT.MULTI and size 100X100.
You should see a portion of the text (2 lines) "The quick brown f" and "One Two
Three".
5. Now use the horizontal scroll bar to move all the way to the right to see
the right most text. You should see the text "ver the lazy dog." have "boxes"
on them.
6. Move the scroll bar left and right to read the text. Please see an example
the JPG attachement 'text with boxes'.

Move from "UI" component to "SWT.

I cannot reproduce this. Are there other steps I should try?
Comment 4 Brian So CLA 2004-04-14 10:40:51 EDT
I connect to the Solaris an HP boxes via Exceed. I can reproduce the problem on
Solaris today via Exceed. However when I use the direct connection from the
lab., I cannot reproduce it. Do you think it is an Exceed problem?
Comment 5 Grant Gayed CLA 2004-04-21 11:18:21 EDT
It definitely sounds Exceed-related. No one here uses Exceed, so I can't try
this. Will try some other ways to reproduce this, but since this seems exceed-
specific it's less urgent than it would be otherwise.
Comment 6 Brian So CLA 2004-04-21 12:11:45 EDT
I agree.

Solaris is no longer a supported platform.
