Eclipse 3.0M8 on Mac OS X.3.3, verified against Win2k.

When setting colours for the active tab and inactive tab backgrounds, it is possible to set a gradient 
(which personally I don't like for the tabs) by setting the '...end' and '...begin' colours separately.

I don't think it makes sense to show them as two separate colours; rather, I'd have expected there to be 
a single entry for 'Active tab background' and 'Inactive tab background' in the 'Preferences-Workbench-
Colours and fonts' entry.

You could then have a single colour well to select the non-graduated colour, and provide a second 
colour well (with a [x] Enable gradient checkbox) to set the graduated colour.

This would allow an easy setup of non-graduated colours, but also to make it easier to change both to 
the same style of colour (e.g. changing the main colour could also update the graudated colour, or 
change it to the main colour +25% grey, or whatever). At present, you have to be a bit hit-and-miss to 
get the right shade of colour when changing both ends, especially if you want them to be the same.

This would've been a feature in the gradient work that was done for 3.0. 
However, there wasn't time to finish it properly so it was removed.  Will
reinvestigate returning it post 3.0.
