Description

EPL restricts participants from contributing due to IP limitations it places on them by forcing them to release modified versions of the code they would potentially integrate. Let's turn this around. Instead of saying why you don't want to use a particular license, we need this expressed as why you do want to use another. The project team wants to use the Apache-2.0 license because it allows consumers to make derivative works without obligation to make those derivative works available under the project license.
