Go into Preferences > Run/Debug > Console.
Check 'Limit console output'
into 'Console Buffer size (characters)' text field, enter
  - '2147483648' (= 2^31) or a higher value
  - 'abc' or any non-numerical character sequence

On both inputs, the dialog shows the error message
'The console buffer size must be at least 1000 characters.'
instead of warning about the bad integer format or showing the maximum buffer
size.

Similar behaviour on many other preference pages too. Please check them all.

Especially:
Workbench > Work In Process > Polling Delay allows negative numbers!

No plan for a general solution in 3.0. If you have a problem in a specific
page please log to the appropriate component.

I didn't actually mean to ask for a generalized solution. I thought, sending a
message to everyone concerned could be rather done by the Eclipse development
team than by myself.

Reopening now that 3.0 has shipped

Please log bugs in individual components should they still have this issue in 3.3.
