Description
Wayne Beaton
Folks: As the Project Manager for Working Groups generally, Chris is waiting to hear from me on several other adjustments. +1's are welcomed for sure but I'd like to work with Chris's team to get everything adjusted at the one time. I know he is waiting to hear from me based on Paul White's email back in August. I'm fairly close to getting up to speed generally and when I'm more in line (very soon), I'd like to work with Chris generally to streamline outstanding tasks. Hope this makes sense! Thanks, Sharon (In reply to Sharon Corbett from comment #1) > Folks: > > As the Project Manager for Working Groups generally, Chris is waiting to > hear from me on several other adjustments. > > +1's are welcomed for sure but I'd like to work with Chris's team to get > everything adjusted at the one time. So I agree terminated working groups should be removed from the list of WGs that are active or in incubation. I'm not sure we want to or need to leave terminated ones on the page, or at least for any particularly long period of time. e.g., I don't find that we have missed anything by not having PolarSys listed as a terminated working group. The suggestion to archive the charters of terminated working groups is likely useful, but I'm not sure where to put them or for how long. Putting them at the bottom might be convenient, but then remove them after 6 months or a year. Apologies for being wishy-washy - I just don't think we need to be as hard on preserving working groups as we are with projects. Happy to be corrected on this though, as I may be missing key use cases. One question - we have copyright to the logos/word marks on behalf of these communities. What, if anything, do we have to do in this regard? (I believe nothing, but just want to confirm). PaulW @Chris: Paul W, Paul B and Wayne and I discussed this on a call yesterday. Everyone agreed the Capella and OS.bea working groups have been shut down and so should be removed from the "explore" page sooner rather than later as it truly is stale data. Everyone prefers to push this change forward rather than waiting for the other items I need to review for the W/Gs. Perhaps Wayne and I can have a quick call with you within the next day or so (happy to arrange) to discuss. Perhaps breaking this down into immediate and longer term would be the best approach for the moment? Thanks, Sharon @Chris: As per our hangout today; let's deal with this in two stages. Let's remove Capella and OS.bea from the explore page and archive them. When we determine if we want to have Non Active WG's visible on the website, you can revert them to that space on the website. Thanks, Sharon (In reply to Sharon Corbett from comment #5) > @Chris: > > As per our hangout today; let's deal with this in two stages. > > Let's remove Capella and OS.bea from the explore page and archive them. > When we determine if we want to have Non Active WG's visible on the website, > you can revert them to that space on the website. > > Thanks, > Sharon @Sharon, To clarify, we agreed to delete those pages from the website and if we choose to bring these pages back on the website, we will retrieve them from git history? Re OS.Bea, I have to reach out to them to tell them we plan to archive their WG. Can it wait for few days? Sorry about that, it fell through the cracks. I'll do that ASAP. +1
Chris: Please remove Capella as soon as you can. OS.bea we will have an updated in two weeks and will advise at that time. Thanks, Sharon Chris: As soon as possible; - Please delist Capella's card. - Remove OSBP's Participation Agreement Link form its card. December 1, 2019 (Sharon to send Reminder): - Please delist OSBP's card. - At that time, please keep its Charter URL alive; however, the Charter should contain a Wordmark of Archived. Thanks, Sharon Gerrit change https://git.eclipse.org/r/150496 was merged to [master]. Merci, Sharon We agreed to keep delist OSBP's card from the Explore Working Group as of yesterday. Here is our reminder: - Please delist OSBP's card. - At that time, please keep its Charter URL alive; however, the Charter should contain a Wordmark of Archived. Thanks, Sharon (In reply to Sharon Corbett from comment #17) > We agreed to keep delist OSBP's card from the Explore Working Group as of > yesterday. > > Here is our reminder: > > - Please delist OSBP's card. > - At that time, please keep its Charter URL alive; however, the Charter > should contain a Wordmark of Archived. > > Thanks, > Sharon I created a Gerrit changes for this: https://staging.eclipse.org/org/workinggroups/explore.php https://staging.eclipse.org/org/workinggroups/osbea_wg_charter.php The credentials for the staging server is: username: testuser password: plaintext Regarding the charter, our usual termination text is: Eclipse OS.bea Working Group Charter has been terminated. Is this correct or should say that it was archived? Please advise. Yes, please change it to Archived and for the future as well. Its less negative and in fact it's the act of termination that causes the Charter and other assets to be archived. Hope this makes sense? Thanks, Sharon (In reply to Sharon Corbett from comment #19) > Yes, please change it to Archived and for the future as well. > > Its less negative and in fact it's the act of termination that causes the > Charter and other assets to be archived. > > Hope this makes sense? > > Thanks, > Sharon +1 I made the update and I will push my changes live in a few minutes!
