Description Lars Briem CLA 2019-09-11 10:11:36 EDT
After downloading a fresh instance of eclipse using the installer, clicking on "Window > Preferences > Team > Git > Configuration" hangs up the UI. It is not possible to use eclipse anymore. The same happens when cloning a new repository. There was no problem using egit 5.3.x.
According to stackoverflow ( https://stackoverflow.com/a/44910936/806246 ) this might be a problem due to the usage of bash on windows.

Using eclipse java ide version 2019-03 and egit 5.4.0 works for me.
Comment 2 Thomas Wolf CLA 2019-09-11 11:31:59 EDT
I thought that got fixed in 5.4.2. See [1], and bug 548598.

However, also see [2], where another user reported something like this.

Could you please take jstack thread dumps and attach them here when that happens?

Also of interest: what Java version, and all the "filesystem" entries in your user gitconfig (if any).

The bash thing is bug 515354.
Comment 4 Lars Briem CLA 2019-09-12 01:55:57 EDT
Adding the egit update site to eclipse and updating egit to version 5.4.2 solved the problem.
