Tracing the startup time of EGit (see http://www.vogella.com/tutorials/EclipsePerformance/article.html#example-tracing-the-startup-time-of-plug-ins)  showed that EGit need relative long to start compared to the other plug-ins.

I assume there is room for improvement.

Stuff we did to improve startup time in the past:
- Move Activator code to OSGi DS services
- Move blocking initialization code to Jobs
- Remove useless code if it exists

Yes, the times are cumulative, so EGit activation triggers JDT UI activation, triggers JDT core activation, triggers resources activation, triggers ...
