Description arne anka CLA 2018-09-10 05:11:26 EDT
- wrote a small Java program to test something.
- hit f11 to launch
- nothing happens
- hit f11 again
- still nothing

i am already used to Eclipse not reporting any compile errors and failing silently, but that's not the case here.

checking the progress tab, is see several entries

launching Test (Blocked: the user operation is waiting for "build workspace" to complete)

there's nothing in the project that requires something in the workspace to be build!
what's more, i'd expect at least a visible information instead of apparently doing nothing.

Eclipse needs a more sophisticated way to determine whether the workspace needs to be refreshed/built instead of doing it constantly for not good reason, leaving users high and dry without any way to either stop or speed upo that unnecessary process.

Please provide the Eclipse build id that you are using. Also, specify the details of your workspace projects and the test project.
Comment 2 Eclipse Genie CLA 2020-09-22 13:36:12 EDT
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
