Description Wayne Beaton CLA 2018-05-02 12:22:22 EDT
We need to do some marketting around the change in cadence. A rolling release will have an impact on our user, adopter, and developer communities. It would be helpful if you can help us define that impact.

I'd like to develop a general sense of the impact so that I can start the conversation with the marketting team. I don't need a lot of detail.

Short answers only for now. Pointers to more information will be appreciated, but are not necessary at this point. Once we have a good starting point, we'll dig in to assemble more information.

Some marketing ideas...

"Eclipse 4.x: now releasing 4x faster!"

"Eclipse 4.x: now 4 updates a year!"

"The Eclipse Release Train: unlike Bombardier [1], we now fix bugs every quarter!"

"The Eclipse Quarterly Release Train: fixes, features, and better service than the TTC"

:D

On a related note, looks like https://wiki.eclipse.org/SimRel/Simultaneous_Release_Requirements#State_intent_early_.28M4.29 will need to be update since there's no longer an M4 milestone.

The new SimRel release cadence is in effect. Most communities seem to have adapted to or learned to live with it.
