Hello,
It seems that it is still the case in all eclipse versions known to me: when you try to use screenreader functions to read a status bar when you are in an editor, screenreader only announces "panel". Specifically it does not read things like the current line number, and other things that it should.
Last time i checked, it worked properly on windows, so this bug is linux specific.

It seems that the problem was solved, at least in my machine.

When I press in my laptop capslock+down, the key sequence mapped to read the status bar, orca announces the content of the status bar.

I didn't try yet with nightly versions.

Which version did you try with?
