Description Kevin Sutter CLA 2017-04-03 15:21:31 EDT
After discussing this issue with the WebMaster (Derek Toolan), he suggested that I post this idea of bypassing the moderation requirement for all committers on a given Eclipse project to this bug report:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=512031

But, since that bug report is "resolved", I'm opening a new one to track this specific request. (BTW, I have also searched the bug tracker and noticed several bugs requesting this same functionality. Since all of them are marked as "resolved" or "closed" and we still have to wait for moderation, something is out of whack.)

Also, since Derek suggested I write a new bug report for this request, I figure maybe that carries a bit more weight? Maybe? :-)

Seriously, there should be no reason to wait overnight to see our wiki updates. It makes for a very difficult process -- we have accidentally written over each other's changes already. Please allow committers immediate access to update our respective wiki pages.

Thanks,
Kevin

So the current threshold stands at 10.

As you mentioned previously, Kevin; "maybe this threshold can be more dynamic? Drop it down to 2 or 3 until you identify a problem with spamming again and then raise it til it quiets down. Would that be possible?"

We have now reduced the threshold to 2. That means that new posts from all users on the wiki will have their first two posts moderated, after which the user will be free to post sans-moderation.

The change has been implemented, and will go live tonight. Lets leave this bug open until we confirm that it works as it should.

+1 on reducing the threshold to 2, or maybe even 1 since we can't easily identify committers on the wiki.

On the forums we only moderate the first post. And we have not had spam issues.

+1 on the idea of reducing the threshold to 1 per Denis' comment. Until we get some more wiki activity, I can't confirm that any of these reduced thresholds are working yet... :-)

Ok I've lowered the required number of posts to 1, and the change should be live within an hour.

Closing as 'worksforme' with the number of moderated posts being 1.

Please reopen if something is still amiss.
