- install Launchbar plugin
- click one of launch dropdown
- on the very top, click the "type filter text" textbox

the menu closes upon clicking on it

I've split this bug into two parts: this page is devoted to fixing the closing shell window issue while bug 515773 will focus on how the filter text cannot acquire focus.
