Updates to be applied

I have this following version of Eclipse installed on my Macbook (macOS Sierra 10.12.3):

Eclipse for JavaScript and Web Developers
Version: Neon.1a Release (4.6.1)
Build id: 20161007-1200

When I check for software updates and try to apply them, I get a popup with this error:

'Updating Software' has encountered a problem.

An error occurred while installing the items

An error occurred while installing the items
session context was:(profile=_Users_roger_eclipse_javascript-neon_Eclipse.app_Contents_Eclipse, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Install, operand=null --> [R]epp.package.javascript.executable.cocoa.macosx.x86_64 4.6.2.20161208-0625, action=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.touchpoint.natives.actions.ChmodAction).
The action chmod failed - file /Users/roger/eclipse/javascript-neon/Eclipse.app/Contents/MacOS/../MacOS/eclipse does not exist

That file path looks odd, but it exists. And the file privs are 777. And the privs of all parent directories are 755. So I can't see that it is a permissions issue.

Anyone able to help?

Hi,

maybe this issue is now fixed with:
https://git.eclipse.org/c/equinox/rt.equinox.p2.git/commit/?id=4c9f2ab32d4f60aca08375e176ee06928aa22edf
Bug: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=514142

Can somebody verify this?

Unfortunately I don't have the powers to link the other bug...

Cheers
Christoph

I'll assume this is fixed until someone demonstrates the the converse is true.
