Description Florin Iucha CLA 2004-02-05 11:59:38 EST
This feature is not JDT specific, but I don't know where to send it.
I do apologize for that.

I need to be able to organize projects into groups for usability purposeses.

We have 150+ components (mapped to eclipse projects) and 10 different
applications (mapped to projects as well) we produce. The relationship between
components and applications is many to many, but at one given moment, a
developer works with at most one application and fairly often one component.

The problems are:
   - too many projects make it hard to find the right one
   - too many projects get recompiled while I am changing a base component (yes,
I know about disabling automatic compilation), but I want to compile my
application automatically and the other 9 on demand

Thank you,
florin

For more scalable builds, see bug 50816.

For the first problem (too many projects), UI working sets can be used to hide
unused projects. Working sets are essentially project groups.
