Bugzilla

Whatever you changed yesterday or today on bugs.eclipse.org, please revert it immediately.

The Bugzilla page layout is totally screwed, and things like

   Status: ASSIGNED FIXED of ___

will cause data loss.

Horrible! The first comment got lost!

Bugzilla worked fine yesterday until at least 15:00 Eastern Time.

Rendering of #508888

I can confirm. See the attached screenshot (if my comment is correctly handled...) of how this very bug currently renders on Chrome. I've opened the Chrome console: it's full of JavaScript errors about missing/undefined functions.

Looks like the lost comments are those that added an attachment.
Comment 0 had an attachment (comment lost, also in the XML version). Bug 508889 looks OK.

Same rendering for me in Firefox. Notice that the title and alias are editable by default, which was not the case before. You had to click Edit to make that happen.

bugs-vm2 seems to be on and off according to the infra status page. Currently I can't do much about it, because I can't reach the host machine.

I can confirm that the Bugzilla layout is messed up. Apart from the layout errors I did not have any issues commenting or changing the status. I did not add an attachment though.

The browser tab title is also broken. See here https://imgur.com/a/ZJD3k (not attaching as it would kill my comment) that the browser tab title just reproduces the URL but IIRC it used to be Bug _number_ - _bug title_.
Comment 9 Pierre-Charles David CLA 2016-12-08 06:27:36 EST
When adding my attachement, the associated comment was initialy lost (the attachment itself seems OK). I had to add the comment (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=508888#c4) separately.

I've worked around this in the latest version of our Greasemonkey script:
http://www.eclipse.org/jdt/ui/scripts/jdtbugzilla.user.js
See http://www.eclipse.org/jdt/ui/dev.php#scripts for a description of the script. The most visible effect for new users is that the "Status:" fields get moved to a more useful position (between Target Milestone and Assignee in the settings block).

Are newly entered comments on attachments lost (written to /dev/null), or is it just the rendering? I see old entries where attachment plus comment was OK in the past, but now it only shows an empty comment. We didn't loose all those comments, did we?
Comment 12 Andrey Loskutov CLA 2016-12-08 08:16:08 EST
Can it be that bugzilla has not only rendering but also other issues? Our gerrit patches/commits aren't recorded anymore, see bug 508898 (the gerrit link was added by me manually).
Comment 13 Denis Roy CLA 2016-12-08 09:42:48 EST
I am on this. We didn't change anything, but something is affecting the compiled HTML templates. There is no data loss. All the comments are there.
Comment 14 Markus Keller CLA 2016-12-08 12:03:59 EST
Thanks Denis, looks good again for about 2h now.
Comment 15 Denis Roy CLA 2016-12-09 16:45:31 EST
Attachment https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/attachment.cgi?id=265763 explains it. But how that rendering occurred is beyond me.

For some reason, when the bugs-vm2 webhead died, it made page rendering incomplete.

For now, we've placed that node on a host that is much more reliable.
Comment 16 Denis Roy CLA 2016-12-09 16:46:30 EST
As an addemdum, I wasn't able to extract any useful info from the tarred templates I gathered while this was happening.
