Ex: snippet27.

X11: Shell starts minimized.
Wayland: Shell starts in regular place.

How do you test that under Gnome?

If you start snippet27 in X11, shell starts minimized, it is not visible. But you see that the snippet is running and you can terminate it.

If you start snippet27 in Wayland, shell is shown, it is not minimized. I.e, it'll be there for you to interact with.

I haven't investigated too deeply yet thou. Just noticed it while I was testing the shell size patch.
