I thought I had done this already, but must have been a different project. :) 

There are currently soem "config.xml" files from Hudson saved in Git simply for "safety" reasons. (They are updated manually, and do not form part of the build. 

But, for some time now, we "backup" the configs on Hudson itself, in the job

We save about 10 days worth, plus some "permenantly" if for a "release" or before a big change. That should suffice for "emergency" recovery. The ones in Git are very out of date and just get confusing when doing a "search" or simlar.
