Description
Wayne Beaton
Wayne, you opened a few bugs with the same kind of issues (browsing, finding content, ...) Perhaps we should have a meeting and think about how to improve the structure of eclipse.org in general? With a SEO approach for page titles and URLs, and having the end user in mind? (In reply to Antoine THOMAS from comment #1) > Perhaps we should have a meeting and think about how to improve the > structure of eclipse.org in general? With a SEO approach for page titles and > URLs, and having the end user in mind? I'm in. Schedule it. I think we need to have other people working on the websites. Can this wait for september? or do we need to do that asap? Sooner is better than later IMHO. We're seeing only a small number of requests for installation help, but that is often the "tip of the iceberg". Installation instructions need to be dead simple to find. Should we post the information on the wiki? (In reply to Christopher Guindon from comment #5) > Should we post the information on the wiki? No. The instructions for installing the packages should be on a refined webpage that we maintain. Agreed and we probably want a standalone page so that we can link to it from /downloads ? Yes, linking from download page "Problems installing?" would be nice. I also just found out the 6 steps to install Eclipse links no longer work on the wiki: https://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse/Installation (In reply to Roxanne Joncas from comment #8) > Yes, linking from download page "Problems installing?" would be nice. > > I also just found out the 6 steps to install Eclipse links no longer work on > the wiki: https://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse/Installation I fixed the redirect on eclipse.org and also updated the url on the wiki. The link text says that there are "6 steps", but the page only lists five. :-) I've updated the link text.
