Whiteboard:

Description Eric Rizzo CLA 2016-07-06 11:48:29 EDT
On the downloads page, the banner that advertises the installer still refers to the Mars release:
"5 Steps to Install Eclipse
For the Mars release, we are introducing a new Eclipse installer..."

I'd say the whole first part of that paragraph should be updated since the installer isn't new any more.

I am adding Anne to this bug because she's is way better than me for content editing :)

Anne, this is the text we need to change. We would like to update the text so that it's not specific to the Mars release.

5 Steps to Install Eclipse

For the Mars release, we are introducing a new Eclipse installer.
This is a new and more efficient way to install Eclipse. It is a proper
installer, so no more zip files, with a self extracting download that
will lead you through the installation experience. For those not into
installers, we still have the packages and zip files available on our download pages.

I am thinking of something within the lines of:

We've recently introduced a new and more efficient way to install Eclipse with the Eclipse Installer. It is a properinstaller, so no more zip files, with a self extracting download that
will lead you through the installation experience. For those not into
installers, we still have the packages and zip files available on our download pages.

What do you think?

Hi Chris -- look good, just a couple of suggested tweaks.

We've recently introduced the Eclipse Installer, a new and more efficient way to install Eclipse. It is a proper installer (no zip files), with a self-extracting download that leads you through the installation process. For those who prefer not to use the Installer, the packages and zip files are still available on our download pages.

I forgot that we've moved the packages to a new page:

I added a link to the last phrase:
