Since Maven 3.3.1 one can use other languages than XML for the build definition (see https://github.com/takari/polyglot-maven/).

Still, tycho-versions-plugin expects a pom.xml file and fails otherwise.

$ mvn -Dtycho.mode=maven org.eclipse.tycho:tycho-versions-plugin:set-version -DnewVersion=1.0.3-SNAPSHOT
