Description Lars Vogel CLA 2016-03-08 18:54:28 EST
F11 is commonly used to put a browser in full screen mode. Bug 489087 plans to provide a full screen mode for the Eclipse IDE and we should use the shortcut which is commonly used for that, if possible.

Could JDT use another shortcut for launching applications?
Comment 1 Stephan Herrmann CLA 2016-03-09 12:39:35 EST
During my debug sessions, F11 is among the most frequently used shortcuts along with F5-F8. I don't believe we have a free key that matches the existing convenience. Therefor I vote for keeping the existing binding *at least for the debug perspective*.

BTW, I personally don't consider Eclipse a web browser :)

Moving it to Platform Debug as it is defined for all debugging projects like JDT, CDT.

This will impact lots of people. Many people are used to using F11 for debugging. We might want to get the opinion by posting this bug reference in cross-project ?
