Description Jean-Michel Lemieux CLA 2003-12-16 11:36:32 EST
I20031216
You can enter invalid strings in the module field without validation. For
example, a/n///////////.

This actually ends up in a module shared with a/n///////. We should at least
strip the extra '/'s and validate in the wizard.

I was not able to find module pattern, but I propose to exclude following characters:

*/|:\

You need to keep a few things in mind when validating a module name. First of all, it is now a path so the slash (/) character is not invalid. However, two or more in a row are. Also, the colon character (:) is valid on some platforms (e.g. Linux).

The case described in comment 0 works for me when tried on I20080409-1425, it looks like the stripping has been added in the meantime.

There is still no validation in the wizard though. Moreover, there might be other cases mentioned by Christopher (comment 2) and Michael (comment 3), so let's keep the bug opened.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
