Description Nitin Dahyabhai CLA 2016-02-25 11:54:27 EST
The option to "Make the topic always appear at the top of the topic listing" no longer seems to do as it states. The post marked as such remains, but it's just not shown on the first page. Is this related to something that happened last night--I was suddenly getting 500 statuses when reading.

I've switched Fudforum to use the master database only, not the master-slave. I think the slave was causing more problems recently when it happened to be lagged.

I wrote the slave code years ago and submitted it upstream, but have not had time to maintain it.

Let's assume fixed. We'll just buy faster DB servers :)

I know the webmasters are swamped, but this has been ongoing for almost 2 months. Can the forums get some love, please.
Comment 8 Nitin Dahyabhai CLA 2017-10-04 12:05:18 EDT
Please?
Comment 9 Denis Roy CLA 2017-10-11 10:56:34 EDT
I'm looking into this now.
Comment 10 Denis Roy CLA 2017-10-11 13:40:40 EDT
I've rebuild the sequence in the tv (thread view) table for newcomers (forum 89). Is this affecting other forums?
Comment 11 Denis Roy CLA 2017-10-11 16:43:51 EDT
I've found the culprit. The query that rebuilds the thread sequence is bad. My thought is that the switch to MariaDB had affected the behaviour of this query -- or the number of threads in Newcomers causes different behavour.

I've patched:
fudforum/src/th_adm.inc.t

with a query that rebuilds it correctly. Will bake it for a few days and see.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

We won't be investing any resources into this aspect of our infra, as it is either deprecated, or it will be soon.

We encourage projects to migrate to GitHub or Eclipse GitLab (https://gitlab.eclipse.org).
