Similarly to bug 428910, or bug 439271 et. al, would you be able to please change the Gerrit Submit Type to "Rebase If Necessary" instead of "Merge If Necessary" for ESON repository on https://git.eclipse.org/r/#/admin/projects/emf/org.eclipse.emf.eson ?  See https://gerrit-review.googlesource.com/Documentation/project-configuration.html#submit_type for background about Submit Type.

My main interest is not seeing any merge commits, for a more linear history. I noted https://code.google.com/p/gerrit/issues/detail?id=2167 referred to in Bug 439271 which made Denis ask you to revert Xtext's Submit Type back to Merge if necessary.. but that sounds more like an inconvenience which in some cases causes one to have to do a manual client rebase, than a bug causing possible corruptions or something. So personally I still prefer that over "Fast Forward Only" which would be my 2nd choice, before Merge if necessary.
