Description Nick Edgar CLA 2003-11-18 12:18:58 EST
build N20031117

- When calling AbstractTreeViewer.remove, it calls preservingSelection, which
tries to preserve the selection and is also responsible for notifying listeners
of changes to the selection.
- It is often the case that the selection contains the elements being removed.
- It should not try to restore the selection for these elements, since this
causes extra work, and may lead to population of the parent from the model,
which can lead to inconsistencies (see bug 44081).

Should fix up all viewers, not just AbstractTreeViewer.
Need to be careful not to break contracts for protected API when fixing this.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
