After using the installer to install a package using the simple installer, I click "Launch". The splash screen opens and Eclipse asks me for a workspace. Shortly after I click "Ok", Eclipse stops without dialog or any obvious side effects.

I notice that the installer is also closed at this point.

Could it be that the installer is launching Eclipse as a child process that's getting killed after the installer closes?

I just tried an installation on OpenSuse and it worked correctly, including the final launch of the product. Are there any log files in eclipse-installer/configuration or in {product}/eclipse/configuration or in {workspace}/.metadata ?

That's the expected behaviour.

I've never heard of that. Nor have I seen it on any platform on which I've tested Oomph. But I've added a system property that you can use to prevent the exiting. Please update the installer and add the following to oomph.ini:

   -Doomph.no.exit.after.launch=true

Depending on how far it got, it would write stuff into the workspace log.

We need more information to continue.  We know this works on both Umbutu and OpenSUSE.  Please reopen when you have more details.
