Description Martin Carney CLA 2015-05-11 14:37:38 EDT
I'm working in Eclipse with two windows open via Window: New Window. If I drag a file editor over from one window to the other, paste and autocomplete will malfunction when using that moved editor pane.

For paste, it pastes into whichever editor was most recently active before the moved one rather than into the moved editor.

For autocomplete, the autocomplete popup simply doesn't appear when I try `ctrl-space`.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a second Eclipse window using Window: New Window
2. Open a couple of files in the first window via Project Explorer view or Open Resource (`ctrl-shift-r`).
3. Open a couple of files in the second window via Project Explorer view or Open Resource.
4. Move the editor pane for a file from the first window to the second window by clicking the tab and dragging it to the second window's editor tab line.
5. Copy some text from somewhere.
6. In the editor pane which you moved in step 4, paste what you just copied using `crtl-v`.
7. The text will not paste into the moved editor pane, but will instead paste into whichever pane was active in the second window before moving the pane to it.
8. Right-click where you tried to paste and select "Paste" from the contect menu.
9. The text will successfully paste where expected.
10. Staying in the moved editor pane, type `sysout` and hit `ctrl-space`.
11. The autocomplete popup will fail to appear.
12. Close the moved editor pane.
13. Re-open the file in the second window using Project Explorer or Open Resource.
14. Use `ctrl-v` to paste.
15. The text will successfully paste where expected.

Expected behavior: For paste and autocomplete to work correctly in the active editor pane regardless of the editor pane's original placement.

Actual behavior: An editor pane which has been dragged from one window and dropped into another will paste into the wrong editor, and autocomplete will not function in that editor pane.

Notes:
I originally thought it might be an erroneous interaction between Eclipse and ClipX, which is a Windows utility program which adds copy/paste history accessible through `ctrl-shift-v`. I disabled ClipX and restarted Eclipse, and the bug persisted. Between this and the fact that auto-complete does not work, I do not believe the bug is due to ClipX.
