When I switch from the simple UI to the advanced UI, and then try to go back, I'm stuck because the window just has borders and no content.

We'll need help to track down such problems on non-Windows systems. And you're still Oomph committer ;-)

I tested this on my Linux virtual box with openSUSE and it worked fine.  You have this problem just switching back and forth when it initially opens or have you done more on the advanced wizard before switching back?  Mind you, I tested switching from all pages of the advanced wizard, even from the progress page while it's performing...

Perhaps something else has been fixed with the side-effect that this problem is also fixed.  Please reopen if that's not the case.  Perhaps if that's the case, you can provision an IDE with for Oomph and test what's going on with the debugger...
