Visual SlickEdit has a really nice feature in its Search dialog which helps the
user write a Regular Expression. It's a button that when pressed displays a
dropdown list from which the user may select different Regular Expression
elements. It's very handy and would be a great addition to Eclipse.

Could you provide a little more detail? When selecting the "File Search" tab,
checking the "Regular Expression" checkbox and doing Ctrl+Space in the
"Containing text:" textfield all I get is a space. I'm using M4.

stupid me. we added it for Find/Replace dialog (see there) and we first need to
beef up the infrastructure to support content assist in a dialog (see bug 44280)
