Description Wayne Beaton CLA 2015-01-19 15:58:53 EST
When running the installer on Windows 8, I received a Windows Security Alert. It'd be nice if the security alert didn't happen, but I see these all the time on those rare occasions that I use Windows, that I'm not too concerned about the dialog itself.

The alert indicates the name as "oomph" and the Publisher as "Unknown".

I assume that this problem will be addressed when the executable is signed.

That is strange because the "oomph-extractor-nn.exe" files are signed (unless you take them from a "SCM Change"-triggered build). You can see that with a hex-editor at the end of the files or by rightclicking a file and selecting "Properties" -> "Digital Signatures". I'll attach a screenshot...

Screenshot when starting the extractor

On this screenshot you can see that the publisher is shown as "Eclipse.org Foundation, Inc.".

BTW. I checked that also the (extracted) oomph.exe is signed and carries the correct publisher name.

Wayne, can you show a screenshot so that I get an idea where that problem happens? From where did you download the installer (extractor)? When you look at the last bytes of the executable, do they look like the screenshot?

Wayne, any news here?

Security alert

Here's what I see during the installation process.
Comment 8 Eike Stepper CLA 2015-02-27 12:00:17 EST
Please right-click the exe file and select "Properties" -> "Digital Signatures". Is it also unknown there?
Comment 9 Eike Stepper CLA 2015-03-26 07:10:32 EDT
Wayne, can you please try it again? Maybe bug 463158 changed it for you..
Comment 10 Ed Merks CLA 2015-04-02 09:16:33 EDT
I'll assume this is fixed because I've not seen this recently. Please reopen if that's not the case.
