Rename Resource Exception error dialog

For example I have tried to enter following name

"rdstdtysdrtydrtydry45653213454^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$88888888888888888888888888888888888888@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;$$$@@@@@@@@@@"

It accepted this name and latter I got the error "Rename Resource Exception"

After click on OK, to the error dialog, the whole workspace got corrupted

Comment 2 NINGAREDDY MODASE CLA 2014-12-04 03:30:40 EST
Sorry, I don't understand what do you mean it works for you?

The problem starts after you click on "OK" button

After this your project got renamed and its contents were deleted

Let us trace the steps.

1) You create a project called Test.
2) You right click and say refactor and then enter a name > 256 characeters.
3) You hit Okay.
4) Rename is complete.

On your FileSystem is the Project under the new name or old name?
Your renaming (refactoring) is not not complete and you get a exception.

Thanks

Assigning it Platform resources.

After clicking on the exception dialogue box the project is in stale state.
Although the Package Explorer shows the project as renamed the project has not been renamed on disk.

We observe the same behavior with Project Explorer as well.

Thanks

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
