Steps to reproduce:
1. In the git repo page, select a commit with multiple file changes.
2. Expand one of the files to show the compare widget.
3. Quickly select another commit with only one file change.
4. The compare widget will automatically open.

If step 3 is quick enough you will see an exception happens in the debug console.
