Scott, I believe you'll have an update for SR1?

I've lost track of your official release date, but would like to update to at least a "warm-up" for RC2 (i.e. we'd need to do that before 8 AM Wednesday 8/27).

Ready yet?

And, to be explicit, it's my understanding there is no change in "File transfer" code we use ... it's just a matter of using latest URL and latests "release numbers". Right?

Hi David

I've been away for few days including today and so is going to be hard to produce a release by 8am.

We had a release approximately 2 weeks ago v 3.9.0. It was mostly about remote services and didn't have any code changes for file transfer so your assumptions are correct.

Let me know how to handle timing. If later in the day 27 works I could probably handle that...or rc3.

rc3 is fine .. which is, just next week, and if we could get 'early (such as Friday?) then it'd be easier to schedule in. But if later in the day on 27 is not too stressful, then that'd be good too -- most teams will be testing on Thursday, so closer we can get to final, the better.

But, I'm not too worried since since we expect no change in behavior, so at your discretion and convenience.

Here is the ECF filetransfer contribution for luna sr1:

http://download.eclipse.org/rt/ecf/platform/lunasr1/site.p2

The qualifier for this build is: v20140827-1444

Please let me know if any difficulties incorporating this.

Good timing! I was just writing a note to say there's a rumor we may rebuild for RC2 :)

If so, we'll get this in.

Thanks.

Oh, and is this what we should use for Mars too, for now? Or have you already split streams?

No we haven't split streams so yes, it should be used for Mars also.

I suppose after incorporated, I will also update both of ECF's contributions (for SR1 and Mars) to ECF 3.9.0.

Here's the commit on our maintenance branch:
http://git.eclipse.org/c/platform/eclipse.platform.releng.aggregator.git/commit/?h=R4_4_maintenance&id=4caed4f524ac29826a01619e394bb8e06a7cf2ac

Whoops, turns out that's wrong.

Scott, I see now, that one feature changed minor versions. We were using
3.8.1 of org.eclipse.ecf.filetransfer.httpclient4.feature.feature.group

But, see now, at that location it is version 3.9.1.

Is that 'minor' change anything we should now about (I've not looked at bundles inside it yet ... thought I'd ask, in parallel).

Ok, now I've looked, I see the reason was for the removal of the "source bundles" for 3rd party jars. We've talked about that. Can look up bug numbers later, but that is a "known change" I just forgot about.

Does look like too there was "service work" done on
org.eclipse.ecf.provider.filetransfer.httpclient4

but assume that was something good. (Scott, if you have it handy, would appreciate bug number ... but, assume otherwise we can find it ourselves.).

Much thanks, I'll update and re-commit (I had reverted the previous one).
Comment 9 David Williams CLA 2014-08-28 17:23:31 EDT
For the curious the bug numbers for the "source bundles" being omitted is bug 438466 and "our" discussion of possible alternatives in bug 441613.
