The OpenDocument event system currently uses X11 Window properties for IPC when opening a document from the command-line.

It seems that the Wayland specification will not contain window properties that allow this sort of general use. There will be the ability to add meta-data to Wayland objects, but only certain types of meta-data will be allowed.

signalProc () in Display.java will need to be looked at and possibly redone with a different form of IPC that is display-server and desktop-environment agnostic.

This has been fixed in 4.8.
