Description Konstantin Komissarchik CLA 2014-05-22 12:43:35 EDT
There needs to be an easy way to report a bad mirror and have the reported acted on automatically.

How about this... A button/link next to the mirror on the mirror selection page. If activated, a process downloads the file from the mirror and if the download fails or the checksum doesn't match, the mirror is removed.

Bad mirrors are annoying for humans, but when automation is performing the download, the problem is much more severe as there is usually not an easy way to pick a different mirror.

Marking this is a major since there appears to be no viable solution for automation to deal with a bad mirror.

The mirror list can be obtained as an XML file. Automation can iterate over those mirrors until a valid mirror is found.

This would run into Bug 435545.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

I'm going to close this as 'fixed' since the mirror process now tests mirrors periodically to make sure they are up to date and disables them if they fail to many checks.

If that isn't working as expected please feel free to re-open this.
