For the sake of developing Orion, it would be nice if the defaults.pref file was validated and highlighted as JSON.

Fixed in master, 'pref' is now an extension associated with JSON content type.

Reverting Bug 432540 required me to revert this change due to conflicts.  I was able to cherry pick the commit afterwards.  The new commit for this change is
