editor change view

When changing between editors, using the `Ctrl-TAB` shortcuts, the develop can only see 2 editors. This makes it difficult to scroll when many editors are open. This bug was not present until upgrading from 4.3.* to 4.4.

This bug is also present when switching between views. I am on Ubuntu 13.10 if it matters.

Any help or feedback would be appreciate.

Reproduced in Ubuntu 13.10 (Unity with default settings).
Cannot reproduce in Windows 7.
Tested with I20140402-0100.

Luke, try launching your eclipse with SWT_GTK3=0

Does it work better then?

Yes, it works! Adding SWT_GTK3=0 resolves this issue and several other issues. Thank you.

That's just the workaround :-)

Oops, that's right. Got it!
Comment 7 Arun Thondapu CLA 2014-04-08 14:32:17 EDT
I was suspecting this would be related to the use of overlay scrollbars in Ubuntu Unity, which caused the bugs 420771, 424343 and 432116. I was able to however reproduce the bug on Ubuntu 13.10 even with the overlay scrollbars disabled. The same problem is not seen on Ubuntu 12.04 with GTK+ 3.4.2.

Alex, do you see this problem on Fedora/RHEL?
Comment 8 Alexander Kurtakov CLA 2014-04-09 07:09:38 EDT
So what is the problem here ? The missing scrollbar on the screenshot or that only 2 rows are visible ?
I experience the later one.

The latter is indeed the problem Alex. With GTK+ 3.4.2 on Ubuntu 12.04, I get a much bigger popup window as seen in the screenshot. Something seems to have changed in later GTK+ versions...
Comment 11 Sravan Kumar Lakkimsetti CLA 2014-04-23 05:14:04 EDT
The problem is with gtk_widget_get_preferred_size call.

The workaroung code has been commited by http://git.eclipse.org/c/platform/eclipse.platform.swt.git/commit/?id=8c8ff931eaefa50624561858afae1e6147ac41ae

I can't reproduce the issue on Mars or Neon.
Comment 13 Eric Williams CLA 2018-03-28 12:47:46 EDT
I cannot reproduce this issue. Please reopen if the bug happens on a 4.8 I-build or newer.
