No icons on the Debug View tree

The Debug View in eclipse-standard-luna-M6-linux-gtk-x86_64 does not have icons in the tree. See attached screenshot. This happens in both JDT and CDT debugging.

I first came across this when trying out the standalone CDT debugger (https://wiki.eclipse.org/CDT/StandaloneDebugger) and reproduced on the JDT.

The breadcrumb debug view does have icons.

If I drag the view into another viewstack, the icons appear. However restarting Eclipse does cause the icons to be lost again.

Are there any entries in the error log?

No, the error log is empty. Another bug I submitted has identified my environment as an old/classic xfce (bug 430585). I am away from my dev machine at the moment, but when I get back I can try other things if it helps.
